Watch: The Cast of Glass Onion Shares Their Festive Board Game Traditions
Janelle Monae has revealed how she and the cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery – on Netflix from December 23 – foiled their love of murder mysteries during filming. And how she dressed for the occasion.
In a new interview with Yahoo UK, the award-winning actor/singer described how the cast got together to play murder mystery games, something she describes as “right up my alley”.
During breaks from filming, “we would play murder mystery games while we were on set. I got dressed, I had a mustache with a little curl at the end, a cane and a top hat.

“They asked me if I had traveled with all this and why I was so prepared. I told them ‘I live like this!'”
This has made the whole thing a home for her, as she enjoys playing games of all kinds. “I play a lot of games like The Mafia and Werewolf, which are murder mystery games. I dress up and invite people over.
She also enjoys board games like backgammon and Rummikub, admitting, “I’m very competitive. I try to stop this side of me, but it’s there.
In the sequel to Knives Out, legendary Deep South detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns to delve into a mystery surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and his group of eccentric friends.
Bron summons them all to his luxurious Greek hideaway through a series of intricate puzzles, and when what’s meant to be a prank turns deadly serious, it’s up to Blanc to solve the most baffling riddle of them all.

Unlike Monae, however, Craig is not a fan of board games. “I’m just not into them,” he said. “I like crossword puzzles. I do this, just to exercise my brain, but I’m not a big board game player. I will participate because I like the company, but I prefer the conversation that happens around her. I can’t take them too seriously.
With Christmas just around the corner, other members of the ensemble’s huge cast have spoken about the games their families play over the holiday season. Leslie Odom Jr’s family has their own tradition: a puzzle.
“He’s one of those greats. Between Christmas and New Years, there is always a puzzle that brings people together during the day, just to put a few pieces into it. »
Kathryn Hahn’s family is doing something much more competitive – and they haven’t quite mastered it yet. “My husband’s family is having a nut rolling contest,” she explained.

“I don’t know how to explain it, but if you win your name gets added to a trophy and let’s just say I didn’t win. I still miss the nuts! I haven’t hit a nut yet! Can -maybe this year I’m going to crack!
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has already received a number of nominations, including two Golden Globe nominations – Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Daniel Craig.
Work on what is currently called Knives Out 3 is already underway, although a release date has not been revealed. Daniel Craig’s return as Benoit Blanc has been confirmed, but the rest of the cast is under wraps, although it’s a safe bet there will be a whole new line-up.
For now, however, Craig, Monae and their co-stars, which also include Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline and some surprise cameos, are coming to Netflix just in time for Christmas.
