Danny Dyer will make his explosive departure as EastEnders’ Mick Carter this festive time, while Jay makes a huge romantic gesture to Lola in a move that’s sure to bring many tears.

Mick’s last episode
Shirley is determined to expose Janine, and it’s not long before a vicious argument breaks out around the Christmas dinner table. Janine blithely ignores Shirl’s accusations, but when young Scarlett comes on the scene, will she finally tell the truth about her mother’s duplicity?

Jay proposes to Lola

Billy praises Jay for sticking by Lola as she copes with her grueling medical treatment. And Jay then entrusts her with a secret: he is going to propose to her.
With Ben’s help, Jay then organizes an outdoor Christmas miracle and proposes Lola’s hand in marriage. Will she say “yes”?
Alfie’s Santa plan fails
Alfie wants to create a magical Christmas for Kat, his big idea being to dress up as Santa and rappel down from the roof of the Mitchells’ house. Inside, however, Bert blurted out to Phil that Kat had told Alfie he could stay with them until New Years.
Later, Phil goes out to see Alfie stuck on the roof, but it’s Kat who ends up helping her ex back home. And there’s more friction to come when Phil finds out what happened at his house while he was away.
Phil goes AWOL
In the wake of Phil making those discoveries about Alfie (see above), the local hardman disappears and Kat desperately tries to find out what’s going on.
Sam eventually finds Phil at Peggy’s house, but she is shocked by what she sees and tries to convince Phil to give Kat another chance. Later, Sam spots Kat and insists that Phil is loyal to her – and trust, Sam says, should go both ways.
But Sam is aware that Phil must not know what she did in Spain.
Zack charming Whitney
Zack will find himself in Whitney’s good books when he kindly offers to cook her dinner, and she’s impressed not only with the food, but also with his foot massage.
Chelsea and Felix interrupt just as the pair get closer, and while Whitney is changing, they tell Zack to go with Whit. Will he follow their advice?
Catastrophe for the Fox-Brannings
It’s culinary mayhem for the Fox-Brannings as Kim takes over the Christmas dinner and manages to destroy the food.
Denise’s plan is to go with Raymond to the Mitchells and throw herself at their mercy, but Kim doesn’t want to be seen begging Phil for crumbs.
In the end, though, Denise wins the argument — and with no shortage of feuds and drama, this newly blended family somehow manages to pull off their unconventional Christmas celebrations.
Romance for Jean and Harvey
Finally, Freddie and Jean will be seen having a board game night, which will also involve Bobby.
But during the evening, Harvey arrives and the boys abandon him and Jean in favor of an underground party in Hackney. The result for Jean and Harvey being that they have a lovely evening together – and even end up sharing a kiss.
