Anger mounts over Camilla’s lunch in the presence of Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan

The Queen Consort has come under heavy criticism after hosting a luncheon allegedly attended by two of her daughter-in-law’s most vocal critics, Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson.

According to reports, Queen Camilla hosted the glamorous Christmas lunch on Wednesday, December 14, with attendees including Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith and Claudia Winkleman.

The day after the party, Netflix released the final three episodes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all documentary series about their time in the royal family.

The next day, Friday (December 16,) The sun published a column of Clarkson in which he said he “hated” the Duchess.

He wrote that while he “feels rather sorry” for Harry, who he described as a “glove puppet”, his feelings about Meghan were “a different story”.

“I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West,” Clarkson said, referring to infamous serial killer Rose West. “I hate her on a cellular level.”

The TV presenter went on to say he was ‘unable to sleep’ because he ‘grinded his teeth and dreamed of the day when she would be forced to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowd chanted ‘Shame!’ and throw pieces of excrement at him”.

He added: “Everyone my age thinks the same way.”

Queen Camilla is now under fire for allegedly inviting Clarkson to her lunch. Morgan confirmed her attendance via a post on her Instagram page.

Morgan has long been harshly critical of the Sussexes, particularly Meghan, who he was briefly friends with before meeting Harry. He left his place as host on Hello Brittany after claiming he didn’t “believe a word Meghan said, after talking about having suicidal thoughts in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Author Emma Kennedy tweeted: “If Piers Morgan had leveled the lopsided layers of bullshit he piled on Meghan on one of my family members, there’s no way I’d agree to attend at lunch with him. Not. A chance. No idea what Camilla was thinking. Unforgivable.

“If it’s true that Camilla just had lunch with Jeremy Clarkson this week, just before he posted *that*, then kudos to everyone for confirming everything that Harry and Meghan’s doco has said is happening. passed between the institution and the media. [sic]“, tweeted Jess McGuire.

“Jeremy Clarkson who Camilla was having lunch with this week, as well as Piers Morgan. And people still doubting what Harry and Meghan said in their documentary? Alright. Rancid bouquet,” author Monisha Rajesh wrote.

Author Omid Scobie tweeted: “This would be the same Jeremy Clarkson who was at a private Christmas party with Camilla, Queen Consort earlier this week (alongside guests including a Daily Mail editor and Piers Morgan).

The Independent has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

Clarkson’s column was condemned by many, including royal commentator Carol Vorderman, who tweeted, “NO Jeremy Clarkson. On no level, under any circumstances, is it acceptable to write these things about any woman, and absolutely NO to “everyone my age thinks the same thing”.

“No no no. We absolutely do NOT think the same. Listen to the noise, Jeremy. Crowds chant ‘Shame on YOU’.

The presenter’s daughter also criticized her father for his column. Emily Clarkson took to her Instagram Stories and said in a statement, “My opinions are and always have been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the media’s treatment of women.

“I want to make it very clear that I oppose everything my dad has written about Meghan Markle and that I continue to support those targeted by hate online.”

Clarkson’s comments come after the Sussexes’ new series, Harry and Meghanclaimed that Buckingham Palace would “fuel the stories [to the press] to [Meghan]whether they are true or not, to prevent other less favorable stories from being printed”.

Harry recalled a statement issued in January 2020 on his and Prince William’s behalf to deny a story that accused his older brother of having a “bullying attitude”.

He claimed ‘no one asked my permission to put my name on a statement like that’ and added: ‘Within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet, for three years they never wanted to tell the truth to protect us.”
